WORKS AND ARTISTS

Anna Parisi

The tree of life

The installation tells the story of a mother nature that regenerates and transforms.

Vital energy that moves everything.

For Anna Parisi, recycled materials like paper and fabric have once again become reference points, but also an exciting test bench.

What is creativity if not the desire to make an object a subject and make it decipherable?

I PAINTED MY WORLD AND WENT INSIDE IT

An ancestral world where dreamlike symbols echo life even when they speak of death.

Objects and shapes, deceiving our eyes, are reborn in the mind, revealing past times, whispering the existence of already experienced future space-time.

Andrea Seminara

Born in Patti in 1966, he is inspired by great masters such as Picasso, Miro, Kandinsky, his mark is recognizable. During the course of his life he encounters many difficulties, the road is always in the balance, the unpaved track, this is what influences his talent and makes him a true artist. The works of Andrea Seminara are controversial, a restless state of beauty that is shaped by the loneliness and inner suffering of the artist. No matter how much effort the artist has put into making his paintings perceived by the public exclusively as the embodiment of pure and non-canvas emotions, can not avoid the fact that they fit ideally in the bright and sometimes noisy interiors of our time. Although his rebellious brain is more excited by ideas and their proper implementation than by how attractive his paintings would be to the viewer from an aesthetic point of view. Seminara has created paintings with a variety of meanings where the viewer is lost in his own extravagant labyrinth.  His latest pictorial collection further accentuates the link between his strong and powerful colors with a state of apparent calm, of storm in his subconscious. The chromatic and technical quality are those of a non-academic artist, if not a nascent genius.

Catena Biagia Ballarino

Catena Biagia Ballarino was born in San Piero Patti (ME) in 1964, where he lives and works in the field of Emergency Health with 118. Following his passion for art, in 2006 he started his artistic career attending the course of Painting at RUFA - Rome University of Fine Arts - obtaining a degree in 2010 with a thesis entitled "Futurists and women
Russian avant-garde in comparison".
From the beginning he exhibited in visual and impromptu art exhibitions, both in public spaces and private galleries. On his initiative in 2016 the art collective "Quintessenza Group" was born, which the following year is formed in association.
The predominant element in Ballarino’s painting is water, which in its perpetual flow is the symbol par excellence of birth and life, transformation and regeneration. It is also associated with a self-analysis that the artist performs by probing herself and her own unconscious. The observer is led to make the same introspection, as if he were really in meditation on a river bank or on a sunny beach of Sicily.

Ballarino’s artistic research has led her over the years to enrich her palette of colours and shades. While in his earliest works there is a preponderant use of cold colours, from Prussian blue to cobalt, in more recent works a chromatic richness emerges from which not only the full awareness of the pictorial technique but above all the message that it
wants to transmit.
The series of works "What remains", which includes paintings made since 2019, is born from the vision of boats abandoned by migrants on the coast of Lampedusa. Arrived on the island on vacation, the artist is impressed and this leads her to make deep reflections: the disintegration of those boats is a metaphor for the progressive and unstoppable corruption of all humanity. Among his new warm, full-bodied and impressionistic brushstrokes, the horrors present in the seabed of that sea and those seemingly peaceful landscapes are hidden.

Loredana Castrovinci

Loredana Castrovinci, born in Messina on 31/07/1974, lives in Patti and works in Brolo, her hometown.

Graduated in Educational Sciences, her educational path did not follow the path of art, but art has always been part of her being, leading her to cultivate, in her own way, as a self-taught person, a passion that drives her to make any type of surface "home" for drawings and colors. She worked for some years in a marble processing company creating decorations on lava stone. She participated in some painting competitions, various group exhibitions, and some solo shows, achieving great response and satisfaction. She collaborated with some colleagues on different projects, creating mosaics and installations, and led very fun art workshops for children. Her art is a constant experimentation with techniques and materials that tend to go beyond the works, reaching out to the viewer, inviting the observer to look beyond what is seen, making them involved, trying to stimulate their imagination, to meet, confront, and share thoughts, feelings, emotions, moods, so that the black background of the mystery of each one's existence can be illuminated by a light made of many beautiful colors. Her works thus become always different because those who look at them, adding something of their own, complete them in their own way.

Lucia Balletta

Balletta Lucia was born in Brescia in 1970 and currently resides in S.Agata Militello (ME). The eldest daughter of the artist Melina Tricoli, for some years now she has been enthusiastically and passionately following her mother's artistic talent. Her natural predisposition for art, combined with the precious teachings of her mother, has allowed her to refine this unique technique (Textile Inlay), transferring her individuality into the works. She has participated in some of her mother's solo exhibitions, proud and grateful for the precious gift she has been given.

Melina Tricoli

Melina Tricoli was born in S. Piero Patti (ME) in 1948 and currently resides in S. Agata Militello. As a self-taught artist, at the age of 60, she found a different way of creating Art by reusing fabrics in their original colors to make her works, surpassing the limits of collage and achieving a compact and uniform structure where the joints disappear, allowing the artwork to express itself in its figurative version. Her natural inclination towards art, combined with talent and creativity, prove to be valuable support for her artistic journey. Over time, she refines this technique and strives, as much as possible, to achieve perfection. Her Art is highly appreciated for its simplicity, the combination of colors, and the unique technique (Textile Inlay). Starting from 2010, she has taken part in numerous exhibitions that confirm the culmination of her inspiration, and has received several awards and recognitions, including at international level.

Peppe Rametta

Giuseppe Rametta, known in the art world as Giusirames, is a versatile artist and poet originating from Syracuse. Born on January 7, 1974, he has a solid academic background with a degree in Political Science from the University of Catania and a specialization as a Programmer Accountant. His education is enriched by certificates in Nature Guide and Technical Responsibility for Websites, as well as skills in 2D and 3D graphics programs.

Giusirames stands out for his innovative artistic techniques, experimenting with a variety of materials and surfaces. He is the creator of the "Magical Color Path", a technique that transforms water into a solid surface to paint on, returning to liquid when touched. This method is also extended to other liquids like oil, wine, coffee, and milk, giving life to ephemeral and unique sculptures.

Throughout his career, Giusirames has participated in numerous exhibitions, both collective and solo, and has received significant awards such as the Michelangelo Buonarroti Prize in Florence and the Sanremo Visual Arts Prize. His exhibitions have been held in prestigious locations such as the Palazzo Duchi di Santo Stefano in Taormina and the Palazzo Ximenes in Florence, as well as virtual and physical international exhibitions.

Among his most recent experiments, during the COVID period, he developed a technique that incorporates AMUCHINA into his mediums, giving the colors a "Smooth Luminosity". Currently, he is exploring the use of milk as a base for his creations.

Riccardo Velluto

Riccardo Velluto, known as Rivel, was born in Merida (Venezuela) in 1957 to Italian parents and has been passionate about art since he was a child. Currently, he lives and works in Capo D’Orlando (Messina). He is defined as a painter-sculptor of light (due to the wide range of colors he uses). A versatile artist, his works are full of color, and he loves to experiment with various materials to express his artistic creativity. Among these materials, we find sand and hemp, and most recently the bark of prickly pear, present in the works of the series 'my land' (art will kill the mafia), inspired by and supporting the work of his friend Giorgio Grasso. He was a member of the Trampled ART group until 2014 and is currently part of the art group Homo Faber. Engaged in social issues, several of his works have been published in books and magazines in the sector. In 2016, his work measuring 70x100 with hemp and prickly pear bark ('art kills mafias "NO LEUCEMIA"') was raffled live on TV, and the proceeds were entirely donated to the AIL Sicilia association (Italian Leukemia Association). In 2017, he was invited to speak to fifth-grade students at the Tommasi di Lampedusa Comprehensive School 1 in Capo d’Orlando on the day of legality, where his work was presented and discussed on how art can kill the mafia through his pieces (Giorgio Grasso's project).

Simona Scaffidi

Simona Scaffidi was born in Patti in 1986, lives and works in Sant'Angelo di Brolo in the province of Messina. His early passion and inclination for the arts led him to attend in 2000 the State Art Institute "Michelangelo" of Capo d'Orlando (ME), where, in July 2005, he obtained a diploma in "Painting and Pictorial Decoration".

Made a wealth of multiple and significant work and training experiences, in 2009 he elevates his aptitude for the arts by enrolling at the Academy of Fine Arts "Leonardo da Vinci" of Capo d'Orlando, crowning his training in 2013, year of graduation.

His artistic expression is nourished by the inspiration that sprouts from the night, characterized by silence, darkness, evocative music and introspective and intimate emotions that materialize as painting companions.

He gives life to his graphic and pictorial works by relying on various types of substrate (support) ranging from paper to canvas, plywood, mastering various techniques, from pencil, acrylic, oil, tempera, etc...

The paintings dating back to the beginnings of his artistic path are characterized by a naive soul that distinguishes them from mere representative works of reality. His is an emotional painting, which through the choice of colors, lights and forms conveys a great involvement of the painter, not just a simple photographer of reality, but analytical and reflective reader who lives her subjects fully.

He has been carrying out an experimental research for years, in fact his works are halfway between figuration and abstraction, the latter resulting from wanting to give vent to the free composition of lines, shapes and colors.

Of a rather mild and reserved character, he currently lives in Milan, dividing himself between work and meditation in his small studio where he embodies a fertile pictorial vein in continuous metamorphosis.

Suggestive his reflection that sums up the spirit of his creations: "My painting does not necessarily want to be neither joyful nor aesthetically beautiful, but only the silence of my emotions", and which is expressed in a deep sharing with what Renoir said: "Today you want to explain everything. But if you could explain a painting it would no longer be art".
